From classmates to changemakers: Lira Town college class of 2016 reunites after a decade to give back

Nearly ten years after walking out of the gates of Lira Town College as finalists, members of the Lira Town College Class of 2016 have reunited with a renewed sense of purpose to build a lasting legacy and uplift the school community that shaped them.

The former students gathered for a general meeting centered on development, unity, and giving back to their alma mater through mentorship programs, charity activities, and future infrastructure support projects.

Beyond reconnecting with old classmates and sharing memories, the reunion reflected a growing vision among members to transform the association into a strong support network capable of impacting both alumni and current students.

Speaking during the meeting, Interim President Haron Justine Opio urged members to remain active and committed to the association, noting that many alumni are now navigating important stages of life, including careers, marriage, and business growth.

He explained that a united alumni body would create opportunities for members through networking, job connections, market access, and emergency support whenever needed.

Opio also revealed that efforts are underway to formally strengthen and structure the association so that it stands out among the many alumni groups linked to Lira Town College.

Vice President, Sharon Aciro challenged members to embrace financial responsibility by contributing towards association projects, charity drives, branded activities, and regular meetings.

Meanwhile, the association’s Patron, Emmanuel Angoda, praised the class for showing determination and vision.

“There are many alumni associations from Lira Town College, but the Class of 2016 is distinguishing itself by taking on challenges and remaining focused,” he noted.

He encouraged members to seek partnerships and mobilize resources that can help turn their ambitions into tangible community projects.

The Lira Town College Class of 2016, a non-profit association of former A-Level candidates of 2016, says the reunion is only the beginning of a bigger journey aimed at strengthening friendships, inspiring students, and creating meaningful impact within and beyond the school community.
