The local government of Amolatar District has approved a UGX 32.016 billion budget for the 2026/2027 financial year, marking an increase from the UGX 31 billion budgeted in the 2025/2026 fiscal year.
The budget was presented and read before the district council on May 11, 2026, by LCV Chairperson Geoffery Ocen Kiring. According to the budget framework, the district expects to receive UGX 30.724 billion from the central government, UGX 682 million from external donors, and UGX 610 million through locally generated revenue from the district and sub-counties.
Key priority areas in the budget include infrastructure development, production, education, health, and water services.
A significant share of the budget, amounting to more than UGX 20 billion, has been earmarked for human capital development covering sectors such as health, education, community services, and water.
The integrated transport and infrastructure sector has been allocated UGX 1.903 billion, while tourism and private sector development will receive UGX 91 million.
Natural resources, climate change, land, and water management sectors have been allocated UGX 238.253 million, while agro-industrialization will take UGX 1.883 billion.
Governance and security have been allocated UGX 1.709 billion, while public sector transformation, particularly administration, has been assigned UGX 4.313 billion.
Additionally, UGX 614 million has been allocated towards implementation of the district development plan through finance, planning, and internal audit functions.
However, the approval process was overshadowed by tensions among councillors over delayed allowances, with council members reportedly going five months without receiving their payments.
Earlier during the council sitting, councillors led by Etam Male Councillor Ogang Polycap rejected a proposal to appoint the PAC committee on land, arguing that the current office holders had neither completed their term nor resigned from office.
Following the approval, Chief Administrative Officer Rhoda Oroma thanked councillors for passing the budget and pledged full cooperation in ensuring that the district’s priorities are implemented effectively. She also stressed the need to improve the welfare of district councillors.
Deputy CAO Geoffery Vuciri applauded council members for their commitment and service over the past five years. He also commended Deputy Speaker Ayonye Walter for his notable contribution to the council’s work.

Meanwhile, the Oyam District Local Government approved a budget of UGX 69 billion for the 2026/2027 financial year, with the education sector taking the largest share of UGX 33 billion, followed by the health sector with UGX 16 billion. Finance and administration were allocated UGX 2.2 billion, while works and technical services will receive UGX 3.5 billion. Production and marketing were allocated UGX 3.2 billion.
