IGG arrests Apac Agricultural engineer over alleged forgery

According to information shared on the X account of Inspectorate of Government, Atim Mega, a Senior Agricultural Engineer with Apac District Local Government, has been arrested over allegations of uttering a false document.

The IGG said Atim recorded a statement today at the IG Regional Office in Lira and is expected to appear before court in Apac District on May 26, 2026.

According to investigations, Ms. Atim applied for the position of Senior Agricultural Engineer with Apac District Local Government in May 2024 and was later appointed.

However, the appointment letter she submitted as proof of work experience, allegedly issued by Itek-Okille Farmers’ Cooperative Society on February 3, 2020, was reportedly disowned by the institution’s leadership and declared a forgery.

The cooperative leadership allegedly stated that Ms. Atim had never worked with them, making the document fraudulent and forming the basis of the case against her.

Section 328 of the Penal Code Act Cap 128 states that any person who knowingly and fraudulently utters a false document commits an offence and is liable to the same punishment as a person convicted of forgery.
