President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has launch the Anti Tick vaccine production at the national livestock resources research Institute – Namulonge.
The Colourful event that happened on April 30th 2026, President Museveni Launched the first Uganda’s homemade Anti-Tick vaccine and Production facility located at The National Livestock Resources Research Institute – Namulonge.
The 170 billion shillings initiative has fully been funded by the government of Uganda for years when the livestock Anti-Tick vaccine efforts commenced by Ugandan researchers at the National Agricultural Research Organization – NARO to address the ticks Challenges to livestock in the country
During the event President Museveni Commits 600 billion shillings to support to scale up the NARO vaccine Hub
President Yoweri Museveni affirmed Uganda’s unstoppable transformation trends in scientific innovations as it’s currently the state of development since the NRM government assumed power and evolved the country through the minimum economic recovery stage, economy expansion, diversification, value addition to now science and technological stage.
Because of the endless efforts by Scientist , President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni proposes a tax waiver to scientists, enhanced salaries as a motivation to enhance their performance Commitment
He cites Countless achievements registered in scientific innovation that he attributes to enhanced support for science and innovation which has seen the production of vaccines and other scientific innovation of significance to the economy Uganda.
He says waiving taxes off scientists salaries as it’s done for soldiers will enable them enhance their performance and expedite Uganda’s transformation in science fields since they are the fewest Civil servants in the Country unlike Arts Personel.
Frank Tumwebaze, the Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries notes that Uganda’s Anti-Tick vaccine production is an indicator of agricultural research institutions capacity to elevate beyond academic research to produce actual marketable and competitive products .
According to Tumwebaze NARO Anti-Tick vaccine manufacturing plants are expected to Produce over 36 million doses annually and that will significantly address the country’s livestock vaccine demand.
Tumwebaze reveals that the government plans to enhance research Centers across the 16 Agro-industrial zones and integration of farmers to benefit from the ongoing research innovations
President Museveni said the fight against Tick disease in Cows is a revolutionary movement to achieve the desired heims of Increasing animal Productivity in Uganda and expand in the World Market.
